About OceanAir

Our History

OceanAir Federal Credit Union has a rich history rooted in service, innovation, and community. Founded in March 1952 by a group of civilian employees working as civil engineers at the Construction Battalion Center (CBC) in Port Hueneme, California, we were established to meet the savings and borrowing needs of civil employees on base. After securing a Federal Credit Union charter, we officially opened in April 1952 with just $500 in assets.

Our first location was a humble World War II Quonset Hut, staffed entirely by volunteers and open only during lunch hours. Over the years, as our credit union grew, we expanded our membership to include active-duty military personnel and eventually up to 19 Select Employee Groups. In 1999, we broadened our field of membership to include anyone who lived, worked, attended school, or worshiped in Ventura County. By 2021, we extended our reach to serve communities throughout all of Southern California, while also creating an association that allows individuals nationwide to join.

In 2024, we embraced a bold new chapter with our rebrand to OceanAir Federal Credit Union. This new identity reflects our evolution and commitment to serving a broader community while honoring our roots. OceanAir embodies a spirit of openness, innovation, and accessibility, inviting everyone to experience our exceptional financial services.

As the only Certified Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in Ventura County and a proud Juntos Avanzamos-designated credit union, we are deeply committed to supporting underserved communities, promoting financial inclusion, and empowering members to achieve their financial goals.

Today, with assets exceeding $800 million, four branch locations across Ventura County, and a growing presence throughout Southern California, OceanAir offers a comprehensive suite of financial solutions. These include Home Loans, Lending, Wealth Management, Insurance Services, and Deposit products—all designed to empower our members and their financial futures.
